How deep are the pre-assembled returns for both the hard and soft cornice kits?
All of Studio E Decor's pre-assembled returns standard sizes are 6”.
Can I really put a cornice kit together by myself?
Yes. If you're purchasing the Hard Cornice Kit, you primarily align the holes of the return and the wood front face design together. Then take the screws, place thru the holes in the return and front face design and screw them together. With the Soft Cornice Kit, you just slip the fabric front face design over the pre-assemble return. The process resembles a slip cover. Very quick & easy!
What do I need to do to cover my Hard Cornice Kit?
If your covering with fabric, lay the material on flat surface, place and center the flat side of the board on the material allowing for enough material to cover the sides, top of the return, and the back of the cornice board. Then use a staple gun to staple the material to the cornice board.
Can I hang the cornice kit by myself?
Yes. One person can hang one of our kits by themselves. Install the L-Brackets above the windows first, then it will be easier to place your actual kit over the top of the L-Brackets. However, Studio E Décor strongly encourages you to utilize the "buddy" system; having someone there to watch over you.
Are your Hard Cornice Kits heavy and difficult to hang?
No. We've had customers purchase several large sizes and from their feedback they had no trouble hanging the kits by themselves. As you know our sizes range from 3ft. to 8ft., in 6” increments, and our largest Hard Cornice Kit weighs less than 12lbs.
What are L-brackets and how are they used?
They are “L” shape 90 degree metal brackets that come with screws and are used to sustain the weight of both our Hard and Soft Cornice Kits.
Do I hang my cornice kit on the window frame?
No. Hang your cornice kit just above the window frame and high enough without showing any drapery hardware or window frame molding.
Is the cornice kits permanently attached to the L-brackets?
